As a contract product designer, my main projects included leading the design for a new set of mobile features (FizzMatch + Mentions) and creating the company website (fizz.social)

I led the design for a new set of social features on the mobile app, collaborating with the engineering team and leadership from ideation to launch.
THE Question
How can we design a feature to socially engage existing users and bring in new ones on an anonymous platform?
Ideation
Through conducting user research interviews and collaborating with leadership to align on company goals, I came up with these foundational principles for the new feature.
Introduce personal identification in a way that is safe and exciting to users.
Motivate existing users to bring in new users through their real-life connections
Add value to the social life of users on and beyond the app
Process
Although I cannot share more about my design process, these principles were built of off to conduct user analysis, iterate designs, prototype, and handoff to engineering for the final implementation.

HOW IT WORKS

Use an @ to mention someone on a crush post, fully anonymously.
A minimum character requirement means that users have to say something about their crush & add to the conversation.

If two users anonymously crush on each other, we notify both of them.

We create a private direct message chat for the two matched users.
